If you have been wondering how to help your physicians battle burnout and recover the joy of medicine, this session will walk you through the pragmatics of starting a physician counseling or coaching support program. It is based on the AAMSE County CEO workgroup survey of more than two dozen societies with existing member wellness programs. You will leave with a step-by-step how-to toolkit, funded by a Physicians Foundation grant.

Belinda Clare has been employed by the Travis County Medical Society since 1980. Having progressed through the ranks with increasing responsibilities, she was named Chief Operations Officer in 1994. In this capacity, she also oversees its foundation’s Project Access and its for-profit subsidiary’s medical records storage division.
With over 4000 physicians, Ms. Clare and her staff strive to keep TCMS relevant by adopting and evolving programs that meet the changing needs of a diverse membership. The most recent example is the launching of the new Physician Wellness Program in 2017. Ms. Clare is a past board member of AAMSE and a graduate of its Leadership Academy. Married with two grown daughters and three grandchildren, Belinda enjoys crocheting and searching out treasures at garage sales and thrift stores.
Steven Reames is the director of Ada County Medical Society in Boise Idaho where he's worked for the past five years. During this time, he has helped focus his physician member association on physician well-being and healthcare systems change. He speaks routinely on related topics such as burnout, compassion fatigue, reslience and boundaries. He is an active member of AAMSE, serving on the Trends Report committee and county society committee. Last year he was a co-recipient of an AAMSE Profiles of Excellence award for his work on the LifeBridge Physician Wellness Program toolkit.
